The Permit Coordinator owns and manages the full permit application process for residential construction projects, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete submission and approval of building permits. This role is a good fit for a highly organized individual who is comfortable working proactively and diplomatically with municipalities, even when our deadlines are not their obligation. Confidence in respectfully advocating for timely responses is essential.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit permit applications accurately and on time based on internal scheduling requirements.
- Meet all permit deadlines based on job release and construction schedules. This includes regularly following up with municipal offices to ensure applications are progressing, proactively resolving any issues or rejections.
- Coordinate with internal departments to communicate any potential delays or other unusual circumstances and collaborate to find an effective solution. Obtain relevant documents and signatures as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of permitting requirements for each township, borough, and authority.
- Digitally organize and archive all permit documents by job.
Qualifications
- Administrative experience, preferred
- Tenacity and proactive follow-up skills to drive timely permit approvals
- Exceptional organizational abilities to effectively manage multiple permits across various stages
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate submissions and documentation
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external municipal offices
- Familiarity with residential construction processes and municipal permit requirements preferred
This is a part-time position with hours driven by workload, typically averaging 20/week Monday-Friday.
